PFC Sidney Phillips' (Ashton Holmes) war-torn Kipling book from the 2010 HBO historical drama, The Pacific. Based off of a collection of memoirs, the Pacific follows three marines as they endure the horrors of World War II while serving in Japan. Eugene Sledge (Joseph Mazzello) gifts Sidney this book the day before he ships out, and Sledge finds the book among PFC Leckie's (James Badge Dale) other books in his tent.

The blue-bound book is a copy of “Barrack-Room Ballads and Other Verses” by Rudyard Kipling. This 38th edition of the book was published in 1914 and bound in a hardback cover. The book contains a variety of selection of poems by Rudyard Kipling including Gunga Din, Troopin’, and The Young British Soldier. The inside cover has an added false page with the hand written note, “Dear Sid, inside you’ll find our favorite poem. Hope it and all the others keep you company in the times ahead. Your friend, Ugin.”

This item shows some signs of wear from production use, including some water damage, bent pages, minor tears, and some dirt smudges, but remains in overall good condition. See Photos for details.
