Dr. Sledge's (Conor O'Farrell) medical bag contents from the 2010 HBO historical drama, The Pacific. Based off of a collection of memoirs, the Pacific follows three marines as they endure the horrors of World War II while serving in Japan. Dr. Sledge can be seen using some of these items as he performs checkups on his son, Eugene Sledge (Joseph Mazello) in the first two episodes of the series.
This set includes many items, including two stethoscopes, a blood pressure cuff and case, a direct monocular ophthalmoscope and case, injection kit and case, muslin bandages, thread, two bandages, a roll of medical tape, and three pairs of forceps. The Blood Pressure Cuff is made by Accoson in Great Brittan, is listed as standard size, and comes in a black leather clasping case. The Direct Monocular Ophthalmoscope comes in a red velvet lined black leather clasping case, and includes a spare light bulb. It was made by E.Esdaile & Sons of Sydney, Australia. The Injection Kit and case includes syringe and needles. It was manufactured by Sharp & Smith of Chicago, and comes in a tan canvas case. The Muslin Bandages measure 5" x5yds, and were manufactured by Gerstein Brothers of New York.
These items show some signs of wear from production use and age, including distressing of the leather, tarnishing of the metal, and some of the labels on the spools of thread are coming up. Despite the damage listed above, these items remain in overall good condition.
