A dented US Marine M1 helmet shell used in the acclaimed TV mini-series The Pacific. Produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, the show chronicles the lives of Marines sent out to the Pacific theatre to fight the Imperial Japanese Army in their long and arduous island-hopping campaign.

Made of fibreglass, this specially made helmet shell and others like it were intended for use when helmet ricochets, dents and “near-misses” were required for some of the more lucky Marines in the island-hopping campaign. Cast from a standard M1 helmet, the dent has been sculpted into the helmet shell and painted to look like bare steel while the rest of the shell remains in the standard US military green of the period.

Well used on the production, the shell remains in a good production-used condition with only minor cracks in the fibreglass and otherwise minimal additional wear from use on the production and time spent in storage.
