This lot will be auctioned on Friday, November 4th. A Mellotron 400SM keyboard used in 1995 album-recording sessions by Mancunian rock band Oasis. First manufactured in 1970, the Mellotron's popularity resurged after Oasis used the instrument on their lauded 1995 album (What's the Story) Morning Glory? At the time of the recording, only one company hired out Mellotrons, and this instrument was used to create the cello sound on the hit "Wonderwall".

The instrument comprises a black-painted wooden exterior frame with an internal metal framework and electronic components. It features a control panel situated next to the keys. The serial number B1803 and power outlets are located on the back, and the keyboard comes with a padded faux-leather cover. The Mellotron exhibits several scuffs marks on the control panel and an external power supply is not included. The lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the instrument hire company and rental paperwork showing that the instrument was hired for recordings at Abbey Road Studios in 2015.
