An original production storyboard from The Wachowskis’ 1999 science fiction action film The Matrix.
Computer programmer Neo (Keanu Reeves) discovers that what he thinks of as reality is in fact a simulated reality called The Matrix, created by thought-capable machines. Trinity (Carrie-Ann Moss) draws him into a rebellion against the machines, alongside Morpheus (Laurence Fishbourne).
This storyboard shows a shot of the human battery field – the scene that Neo wakes up to after he swallows the red pill. His reality disintegrates and Neo awakens, naked, weak and hairless, in a liquid-filled pod, among countless others connected by cables to an elaborate electrical system.
It is printed in black and white on white paper, with a small handwritten production note at the bottom: ‘HP:45.’ The storyboard comes presented in a custom-built framed display with a light green laser-cut mount board. The piece is in excellent condition.
Materials: Card, Wood, Paper, Ferrous Metals.
