Masters Of The Universe

Original Production-Used Storyboard Set - Gwildor's Cave Sequence 1

Stock #85785

”Songs? Why didn't you tell me you were a song maker? Are you a master? Yes, yes you are; I know that. That's why the fates brought us here. The final chord, Kevin.”

A set of production-used storyboards from Gary Goddard’s 1987 fantasy film Masters of the Universe.

They depict the scene at the start of the film where Gwildor (Bill Barty) takes He-Man (Dolph Lundgren), Man-at-Arms (John Cypher) and Teela (Chelsea Field) down to his heavily locked cave. There he reveals the Cosmic Key -before Skeletor’s (Frank Langella) troops arrive outside the door. The events pictured differ somewhat from the final production.

Each storyboard consists of three prints taken from the hand-drawn original illustrations, adhered to a sheet of white foolscap paper. Handwritten notes and directional arrows accompany each image, providing camera, actor and compositional guidelines. Each of the four sheets are hand-numbered - '18', '19', '20', ‘21’ - and hole punched, showing where they were arranged as part of a sequence. They are labelled ‘SC9’ and ‘SC10’.

Displaying minor yellowing from natural ageing, one minor ink smudge and very light wear, the storyboards remain in very good condition.

Materials: Paper.
