A photograph of Marilyn Monroe by photographer Cecil Beaton. Beaton was a British fashion, portrait and war photographer who worked for Vogue and Vanity Fair, and was the favoured photographer of the British Royal Family.

This framed black-and-white image of Monroe features her lying down in a white dress, clutching a rose to her chest. It was shot in 1956 at the Ambassador Hotel in New York, and Monroe once commented to Joshua Logan, her director on Bus Stop, that it was her favourite image of herself. It was the only photoshoot Beaton did with Monroe.

This lot originated from The Lost Archives of Marilyn Monroe, an auction hosted by Julien's on 5 and 6 December 2014, and was one of over 200 personal items of Monroe's sold there. Dimensions (framed): 64 cm x 59 cm x 3 cm (25" x 23" x 1.25")
