Confederate Infantry Soldier Costume

Stock #27559

Confederate Cavalry uniform used in the production of Steven Spielberg's historical drama Lincoln. The film recounts President Abraham Lincoln’s (Daniel Day-Lewis) efforts to abolish slavery in the United States towards the end of the Civil War. The costume consists of a dark beige pullover shirt constructed of thick flannel with orange design covering the shoulders, collars, and button areas. It has full length arms with ties at the cuff and is buttoned down half way, no sizes are marked.

The single breasted shell jacket is constructed of light grey cotton and three pockets on the front with gold coloured decorative buttons. The inside tag has 'w 52' handwritten on it.

The dark brown cotton trousers has two front pockets and are fastened with brown buttons, the back has an adjustable strap with a buckle. The pinned tag inside has '2039' written on it; however no sizes are specified. It has been given intentional distress and dirt patches to give it a battle worn look.

Along with this fantastically detailed outfit is a faux leather brown shoulder bag and belt with attached case and metal buckles. A dark grey woollen hat with number '2034' handwritten inside and brown leather ankle boots (with numbers 43 and 494 written inside) to complete the ensemble. There is also a round canteen with a cotton holder and another cotton bag.

The piece shows wear from being intentionally distressed but remains in overall good production-used condition.
