Pre-production Chantrell artwork for the Hammer film, "The Legend Of The 7 Golden Vampires" (this released in 1974). This artwork was used by Hammer in their efforts to secure finance for their latest film, this targeted at Chinese investors (the Shaw Brothers eventually signed a co-production deal). This specific artwork was also used in a marketing campaign in Japan. As the British film industry in general and Hammer in particular slumped in the 1970's, no avenue was left unexplored in the effort to find financial salvation. Hammer decided a hybrid horror-Kung Fu film was the answer and Chantrell obliged with this conceptual piece featuring Peter Cushing.

Additional Condition Information: Gouache and pencil on artboard with painted title card and "THIS IS A HAMMER FILM" printed overlays, all affixed to black board, framed and glazed. There is a 3" tear to right hand side green border.
Dimensions: Artwork 16" x 22" (41 x 56 cm), 24 1/2" x 32 1/2" (62 x 82 cm) overall
