A green military hat form the production of Kenneth Branagh’s 1996 Shakespeare adaptation, Hamlet.
Prince Hamlet (Kenneth Branagh) is traumatized by the revelation that his father was murdered by the present king, Claudius (Derek Jacobi), with the aid of Hamlet's mother, Gertrude (Julie Christie). Hamlet considers a plot for revenge and mistakenly kills Polonius (Richard Briers), the father of his love, Ophelia (Kate Winslet), causing a chain reaction that leads to a climactic and tragic ending.
This hat, and others like it, are worn by liverymen at Elsinore Castle and seen in the background worn by several supporting artists. It is made of green wool, with a yellow braid across the front, flanked by a gold-coloured braid. They curve around the front and back and are embellishes with a gold-coloured braid to the side of the hat. This item is in good, production-used, condition, betraying few signs of its age.
