A glacier unit crew jacket from the 1999 Michael Apted film The World Is Not Enough, the 19th instalment in the James Bond franchise.
MI6 agent james Bond (Pierce Brosnan) is assigned to protect Elektra (Sophie Marceau), daughter of murdered billionaire Sir Robert King (David Calder) and previous captive of murderous terrorist Renard (Robert Carlyle).
Jackets like this were given to crew members during their time working on the ski chase and related scenes in Chamonix, France. Interestingly, the scene’s filming was delayed by an avalanche, and crew members assisted in the subsequent rescue operations.
Made from polyester, the jacket features a navy blue fleecy exterior and water-resistant mid-blue interior. The right pocket bears an embroidered badge featuring the 007 logo with a mountain silhouette and the words ‘Glacier Unit – Chamonix Mont Blanc 1999’ embroidered in silver, blue, orange and red. The polo-style collar features a matching zipper that closes to the chin, and there is a zippered pocket features on each side. Both cuffs are elasticated.
Showing wear from use during production, the jacket displays white paint or plaster stains on the back and right inner pocket. It remains in good overall condition.
