A chrome-style departmental crew hardhat from the production of the James Bond film The World is Not Enough.
Starring Pierce Brosnan as James Bond, the film has the spy protecting a murdered oil tycoon's daughter, Elektra King (Sophie Marceau) and her pipeline run by King Industries. Bond must face terrorist mastermind Renard (Robert Carlyle), a man who feels no pain due to a bullet lodged in his head.
Crew members would have been gifted hardhats like this while working on the production. Made from moulded plastic, the helmet features a smooth, reflective chrome paint coating. Inside is a nylon and plastic harness for fitting to the wearer’s head – a tension screw is fixed to the back of this.
The helmet features clear label stickers marked ‘Bond 19 Art Department’, ‘Art Director’ and ‘Simon Lamont’. Simon Lamont was one of the Bond series' key supervising art directors, and worked on significant pictures including The Dark Knight, The Crow and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
Light scratching can be seen on the top and underside, with some dirt along the harness. Despite this production-based wear the item remains in overall very good condition.
Materials: Plastic. Man-Made Woven Fibres.
