Magda’s (Kristina Wayborn) jewelled belt from the James Bond film Octopussy.
James Bond (Roger Moore) discovers an international jewel-smuggling organisation headed by the enigmatic Octopussy (Maud Adams). He must use his considerable espionage skills to prevent the nuclear attack on N.A.T.O. that the smuggling ring disguises.
Having realised she was betrayed by Kamal Khan (Louis Jourdan), Octopussy and her troops launch a surprise attack on the prince’s palace as Bond arrives during the film’s climactic moments. Octopussy’s trusted assistant Magda wore her jewelled belt as she and the other women pretended to seduce the guards in harem-style garb, allowing their colleagues to access the palace.
Magda’s belt is comprised of two ornate teardrop-shaped and two circular pieces of brass-coloured metal joined by strands of numerous small circular and teardrop-shaped links Each main shape and small link are studded with translucent plastic beads, coloured red, blue, green and white. Tiny white and red beads hang from the ends of each link.
The teardrop shapes work as the front and back ‘showpieces’ of the belt, with pieces of tape attached to the back of each respectively labelled ‘Front’ and ‘Back’. The back piece features an additional label marked ‘Collar’. A layer of felt covers the back of each side circular piece, possibly for the wearer’s comfort.
Showing minor wear from use during production and storage, the belt remains in very good overall condition. It is a must-have item for Bond enthusiasts and fans of Bond girls.
