A block of C4 and a hotel room key from the production of Christopher Nolan’s 2012 action sci-fi film Inception.

Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a thief who steals corporate secrets by going into dreams. He’s then given the task of getting a team together to do the opposite: plant an idea in the mind of a CEO (Cillian Murphy).

This block of C4 and others like it were made for the production and appear most notably when Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) sets up a ‘kick’ for the rest of the crew, designed to wake them up from their dream-within-a-dream. He plants C4 around a hotel room and then, once plans have to change quickly, around an elevator. The card is used to get in and out of the rooms of the hotel.

The C4 is made of a block of foam, wrapped in brown paper and has electronics taped around it to look as realistic as possible. It features a red button surrounded by tape which is how Arthur sets the bombs for detonation. On the reverse there are two strips which are covering the sticky substance that attaches the bombs to beams and walls.

The hotel room key is plastic and features the name of the hotel, Valfierno, and instructions for use on the reverse of the card.

Both items display some minor wear from production use but are in an otherwise excellent condition.
