A set house model from the production of John Boorman’s 1987 comedy drama Hope and Glory.

A coming-of-age tale about a boy growing up in and around London during World War II. For young Billy Rowan (Sebastian Rice Edwards), the nightly bombings provide a frightening show, but they include opportunities to rummage through the rubble with friends in the mornings. As Billy plays, his family struggles to remain intact as they suffer through the anguish and losses of wartime.

This item is a three-dimensional paper set build of part of a row of houses used as locations in the film Hope and Glory. The exterior of these houses are clearly seen in a shot where children cheer on an English fighter plane as it passes overhead.

This piece comes accompanied by photographs of the exterior of period houses and of their version, built out of numerous paper set models. These paper models and displays show some signs of production use and handling, some of the paper is a little soft and curling, and there are small details on the chimneys that are loose but overall this piece remains in good condition.
