“By order of the commissioner of police, Zubrowka Province, I hereby place you under arrest for the murder of Madame Celine Villenueve Desgoffe-und-Taxis.” “I knew there was something fishy. We never got the cause of death. She's been murdered, and you think I did it…[runs away]”

Prisoner 284’s costume from Wes Anderson’s 2014 crime comedy film The Grand Budapest Hotel.

The humorous and mysterious adventures of Gustave H (Ralph Fiennes), a legendary concierge at a famous hotel from the fictional Republic of Zubrowka between the first and second World Wars, and Zero Moustafa (Tony Revolori), the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend.

This costume and others like it were made for the prisoners Gustave and Zero encounter when they are imprisoned. This costume belongs to Prisoner 284, who can be seen in one of the scenes having a cigarette. It consists of three parts: a shirt, trousers and cap. All three are labelled ‘David’ in handwritten pen. The shirt and trousers both feature wooden buttons. As the costume was made specially for the actor it does not feature any size labelling.

The costume has been intentionally distressed to look worn and well used. It has some wear from production use but otherwise remains in an excellent condition.

Materials: Man-Made Woven Fibres, Wood, Ferrous Metals.
