Golden Compass, The

Stunt Revolver

Stock #22313

A stunt revolver from the set of the movie adaptation of Phillip Pullman’s award winning fantasy novel The Golden Compass. This intricately engraved rubber weapon has a great deal of background, and was originally intended for use by cowboy Lee Scoresby (Sam Elliott) and can be spotted in one of the behind the scenes extras on the DVDs being showcased, but the through and through Texan insisted on a Colt instead. As a result the team hoped this distinctive piece would become Lord Asriel’s (Daniel Craig), but is never seen in the final cut and may have gone on to be a Gyptian handgun as well as part of their armoury.

This long six-shooter is the rubber version of a European weapon that opened in a very unusual way and has various levers not seen on a regular revolver. Made from a dense rubber painted silver it features a phenomenal level of detail with leaf engravings and a handle painted to resemble wood. It shows evidence of much use on set with patches of black rubber revealed, and the trigger guard has detached at the top, but is an otherwise fantastic production used piece with an interesting story behind it, measuring approximately 39cm x 17cm (15.5” x 6.75”).
