A costume worn by a Gyptian warrior in the 2007 fantasy adventure The Golden Compass. Based on the novel by Philip Pullman, the film tells the story of a fantastical world where a person's soul is tied to transforming animal companions known as daemons.
Gyptian warriors wore their costumes during various scenes towards the end of the film, assisting Serafina Pekkala's (Eva Green) witch clan. This custom-made costume was worn by a stunt actor and consists of a navy blue woollen 'Ted Baker' jumper, floral patterned brown coat, a textured 'poncho', a thick cream faux-fur overcoat, a wide belt, a faux-fur wrap collar and a pair of burgundy trousers with maroon corduroy edging down each side. The belt features knitted wool creating a diamond pattern in assorted colours and brown leather cord is attached at both ends, used to fasten the belt around the actor's waist. Displaying some distressing and minor wear from use, the outfit remains in very good condition with no sizes marked.
