A pair of gauntlets and greaves made for Ridley Scott's 2000 historical epic, Gladiator. In the film, betrayed Roman General Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russel Crowe) returns to Rome as a gladiator in order to seek revenge against the self appointed emperor, Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), who murdered his family. These armor components were made for Emperor Marcus Aurelius to wear during the films opening battle, but were ultimately unused in the film. The armor components are made of plastic and are lined with fabric for comfort. Each component has been expertly painted and weathered, giving them a battle worn appearance. The greaves no longer include their original cords, which would have been threaded through the rings at the ankle and calf.
This lot shows minor wear due to production use, but remains in overall good condition.
