A stunt axe from the production of Ridley Scott's Oscar®-winning action epic Gladiator.
Maximus (Russell Crowe) is a Roman General who is betrayed and his family murdered, so he travels to Rome as a gladiator, intent on seeking his revenge.
This axe and others like it were made for the production and feature in Maximus' second gladiatorial battle where he single-handedly slew a group of gladiators. An axe like this was wielded by the gold-masked gladiator Maximus dispatched.
The piece is made of rubber with a metal skeleton and painted to look like wood and metal. It shows signs of production wear and the rubber has worn in a couple of places, most notably at the base of the handle and the axe head, exposing the metal underneath. Despite this it remains in good overall condition.
Materials: Rubber, Ferrous Metals.
