Gladiator

Damaged Barbarian Sword

Stock #38210

”Strength and honour.”

A damaged Barbarian sword from the production of Ridley Scott’s 2000 Oscar®-winning epic Gladiator.

Betrayed by his Emperor’s son Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) and sold into slavery, Roman general Maximus (Russell Crowe) finds his calling in the arena as a gladiator. But when a festival of games begins in Commodus’ honour, Maximus returns to Rome with thoughts of revenge for his lost Emperor and family.

This production-used Barbarian sword, and others like it, are wielded by the Barbarian hordes in the first of the film's many epic battles. The distinctive curved handle is visible in many shots as the Roman army engage in hand-to-hand combat with their enemy.

The sword features a hard rubber blade painted to look like metal with a curved handle, also hard rubber. The blade features a metal armature to keep its shape. Well-used on production, it features several dents, scratching and scuffs down the blade which suggest it has been used in combat. One of the parts of the handle has snapped off since the production. Despite this the item remains in otherwise good production-used condition.

Materials: Rubber, Ferrous Metals.
