Commodus' (Joaquin Phoenix) arena costume from Ridley Scott's Oscar®-winning historical epic Gladiator. The Roman emperor wore his ceremonial arena costume for the final duel with Maximus (Russell Crowe) on the sands of the Colosseum.

The costume consists of a thin white silk-like top, tunic and trousers, chest armour with an attached leather cingulum militare and cotton tassel detailing, a pair of bracers and greaves. The armour is made of dense rubber foam and urethane and finished in bone-coloured paint. Each armour component is decorated with highly detailed motifs, including charioteers, a crucified figure, Praetorian guardsmen, and sphinxes.

Presented on a custom-made display, the arena costume shows signs of minor cracking, scuffing and paint wear on the armour components, notably on the front of the torso.
