Gladiator

Barbarian Soldier's Stunt Axe

Stock #38383

"At my signal, unleash hell!” A barbarian soldier’s axe used in Ridley Scott’s Academy Award winning epic Gladiator.

Betrayed by his Emperor’s son Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) and sold into slavery, Roman general Maximus (Russell Crowe) finds his calling in the arena as a gladiator. But when a festival of games begins in Commodus’ honour, Maximus returns to Rome with thoughts of revenge for his lost Emperor and family.

This style of axe and others like it were used by the barbarians of Germania who do battle with the Roman legion commanded by Maximus on the front in Germania. Fighting under the watchful eyes of the emperor Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris) and his son, Commodus (Joachim Phoenix), the barbarians lead a brutal assault against the Romans before ultimately falling on the field of battle.

The axe is made of dense rubber with a metal armature within the main body for strength and rigidity and features a curved axe head, painted in dark shades. The long handle of the axe has been finished with lots of detailing to replicate the appearance of wood grain.

The blade displays signs of intentional distressing and minor cracks and damage are present on the handle. However, the axe remains in overall very good condition.

Materials: Rubber, Ferrous Metals.
