A production binder from the production of Gerald McMorrow’s 2008 fantasy drama Franklyn. The binder contains a set of storyboards and a shooting script.
Divided between the parallel worlds of today’s London and the religious dystopia of Meanwhile City, the film paints the picture of four people struggling to cope with life problems in a religious dystopia. Vigilante Jonathan Preest (Ryan Phillippe) tirelessly chases his nemesis, "the Individual". Troubled artist Emilia (Eva Green) plots a rebellion that could turn deadly. Heartbroken young Milo (Sam Riley) seeks real love – and pious Peter (Bernard Hill) desperately looks for his missing son amongst London's homeless.
A black ring binder folder holds the five storyboard copies (stapled together) and the 94-page script, all printed on white A4 paper.
The storyboard copies refer to scenes ‘3’ and ‘5’, showing detailed illustrations, shooting instructions and directions for onscreen action. The scenes relate to Jonathan Preest as he searches through a crowded street, harried by zealous preachers.
Written by Gerald McMorrow, the script is dated ‘4th September 2007’ and carries the Recorded Picture Company and production office contact details on the cover page. The number ‘21’ is handwritten in the lower right corner of this page. Each page is clean and unannotated.
Despite noticeable scuffs on the folder cover, the pages inside only show minor marks and creases, leaving the piece in very good production-used condition.
Materials: Card, Ferrous Metals, Paper.
