Prince Barin's (Timothy Dalton) sword from Mike Hodges' sci-fi adventure Flash Gordon. Prince Barin carried his sword throughout the film, and used it in battle against the forces of Emperor Ming (Max von Sydow).
The sword is made predominantly of fibreglass, with a metal armature along the blade and cast resin around the guard. It is painted to resemble metal, with an ornate black-and-faux-gold handle. The sword displays wear from production use and age, including scuffing, scratches and areas where the paint has come away. The faux gold has become slightly discoloured and there is a large chip on one side of the guard, revealing the resin beneath. Dimensions: 106 cm x 19 cm x 8 cm (41 3/4" x 7 1/2" x 3 1/4")
Estimate: £6,000 - 8,000 M
