A UDF beach landing vehicle cannon from the production of Doug Liman’s 2014 alien invasion movie Edge of Tomorrow.
Europe has been invaded by aliens. Cage (Tom Cruise) is a soldier with no combat experience who gets killed shortly after going into battle. Then he wakes up and begins the day again, restarting it every time he dies, allowing him to learn how to defeat the alien enemy.
This cannon and others like it were made for the production for use on the UDF (United Defense Force) vehicles that take part in the massive beach assault in France. The vehicles are mostly confined to the background of the scene and as such the cannon is not obviously visible, however a similar cannon can be viewed in the workshop of Dr Carter (Noah Taylor).
The weapon is made primarily of biscuit foam with a resin outer layer and metal armature. It has been painted to look like metal in grey, black and green. There is an exposed piece of metal and foam where the cannon was originally attached to the vehicle.
There is wear from production use, including lots of sand stuck to it from the beach. A couple of parts, most notably on the top, have come away exposing the foam beneath, and there are a couple of chips all over. Considering the use of the piece on production it remains in a good condition.
Materials: Biscuit Foam, Ferrous Metals, Resin.
