A stunt Freman gun and holster used in the production of the Emmy award-winning TV mini-series Dune.
Based on the original novel by Frank Herbert, the mini-series tells the story of Paul Atreides’ (Alec Newman) ascension from the son of Duke Leto Atreides (William Hurt) to becoming emperor of the known universe.
The desert tribe of Arrakis carried their guns and wore waist holsters throughout the mini-series. Guns like this appeared in the second episode of the series when they confronted Paul and his mother Lady Jessica (Saskia Reeves) in the desert. Stunt weapons would have been used for action shots and sequences where live fire versions were not required.
Finished in black, the gun is made from wood for weight and is completed by intricate line detail. The holster is made from brown leather inlaid with black stitching. A small bone-coloured catch on side of the piece allows the weapon to be secured.
The gun displays signs of production use including chips in the paint and a crack near the front of the barrel. Light discolouration is present on the holster and some of the stitches show minor fraying. However, despite this wear, the weapon remains in very good condition.
Materials: Wood, Man-Made Woven Fibres.
