A special effects crossbow bolt used in the production of NBC’s horror-drama Dracula.
Now in London, Dracula plots his revenge against the people who ruined his life centuries ago, and assumes the role of Alexander Grayson. However, he falls for young Mina Harker (Jessica De Gouw) who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife, which complicates his plans.
Vampire Hunter Hermann Kruger (Michael Nardone) failed to kill Dracula in the end of the first episode, with this version of the crossbow spike used for special effects sequences to demonstrate Dracula’s wound after he is shot in the leg by Kruger.
The piece consists of a wooden bolt section with silver metal ends and a metal base plate which would have been worn underneath a costume. A piece of mottled fabric is adhered to the back of the plate and two black straps with Velcro© fastenings are attached, allowing the plate to be firmly attached to the actor’s leg. The crossbow bolt section would have been comfortably slotted into a protruding tube that features on the centre of the plate.
The piece shows signs of use on production including signs of corrosion on the metal plate, light marks on the black straps and minor scratches on the metal sections on the crossbow bolt. The piece remains in very good condition.
Materials: Wood, Ferrous Metals, Man-Made Woven Fibres.
