Hero Communication Device

Stock #9693

The hero communication device used in the sci-fi computer game inspired film Doom. When a science team goes missing in a research base on Mars, Sarge (Dwayne Johnson), Reaper (Karl Urban) and the RRTS are sent in to find them. But a terrible secret and inhuman experimentation have created monsters beyond imagining, and they have to do whatever it takes to stop them reaching Earth.

The device can be seen being used by Portman (Richard Brake) when he broadcasts from inside the bathroom asking for back-up; then as he is attacked by the monster the device falls from his grasp and lands in a pile of rubble and continues to broadcast.

Made from black plastic, the device features various symbols along both sides and features a belt clip attached at the back which is where all the wires are fed through. The device also comes a separate computer board which is connected by an array of wires. The computer board has separate buttons mounted on the wires which activate the side symbol lights, the top light and the ‘broadcasting’ icon which appears on the screen. On the device itself, there is a tiny button on the side which activates the counter on the screen. The computer is run by two 9 Volt batteries and the device remains lit up until the batteries are removed. The board is attached to an elasticated strip which would have been worn on the body.

The device displays signs of production use including several marks and elements of the electrical circuits missing, i.e. the wires reading ‘broadcast + trans sent’ unable to attach to a battery. However, in spite of this, the item remains in good production used condition.
