Original Production Artwork - Helicopter

Stock #40402

”Man, I hate work. Even when somebody else is doing it.”

A set of production artwork used in the creation of visual effects for the 1993 action-adventure Cliffhanger.

Haunted by the loss of a former team member, mountain rescue ranger Gabe Walker (Sylvester Stallone) returns to the Rocky Mountains one last time. Taken on an emergency rescue mission, he soon finds himself dragged into a daring heist. Can his knowledge of the mountains save him and his fellow rangers?

Acquired from the collection of visual effects guru Richard Edlund, this artwork was used to storyboard the visual effects sequences for the film’s exciting finale as Gabe fights former government agent Eric Qualen (John Lithgow).

The set is comprised of ten hand-drawn storyboards, drawn in pencil on tracing paper showing the intense action on the helicopter and along the cliff face. In addition, the set contains a diagram showing how the scene was to be shot using cherrypickers, a production storyboard, a matted shot of the helicopter model that was to be used for the final scene and a shot of the helicopter at the bottom of the cliff.

In good production-used condition with some minor creasing and staple holes from its time in use, the largest of the artwork measures 60cm x 44cm (23.75“ x 17.5“).

Materials: Paper.
