A beret badge worn by immigration officers in Alfonso Caurón’s 2006 dystopian thriller, Children of Men.
In 2027 it has been eighteen years since women have become infertile and the world has descended into chaos. Theo (Clive Owen) is a former activist who agrees to help and protect Kee (Clare-Hope Ashitey), a young woman who is miraculously pregnant.
This badge and others like it were worn by British Immigration Officers and they appear prominently on screen twice. The first time worn by Syd (Peter Mullan) as he helps to transport Leo (Gerald Butler), Miriam (Pam Ferris) and Kee (Clare-Hope Ashitey) to the refugee camp. The second time it is worn by a violent Immigration Officer on the bus at the refugee camp.
The badge is black metal with a moulded outline of the British Isles. In the film the raised parts of this design were painted white to make them more visible. There is a metal pin on the back that attaches it to the beret.
The piece shows minor wear from production use but remains in an otherwise excellent condition.
Materials: Ferrous Metals.
