A chocolate egg from Tim Burton’s 2005 adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Eccentric genius chocolate maker Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) holds a competition where five lucky children will win the chance to venture inside his mysterious chocolate factory. Poor but kind Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore) catches an unexpected break as one of the winners of Wonka’s Golden Tickets.
The children first experienced the magic of Wonka’s factory when they visited the Chocolate Room soon after entering the factory. Everything in the room is edible and Augustus Gloop (Philip Wiegratz) starts tucking into all of the sweets, while his mother stuffs chocolate eggs like this one into her bag.
Made from polystyrene painted to look like chocolate, this egg certainly isn’t edible! It has been painted to look like a mix of white and milk chocolate and features a thin metal rod sticking out from the base where it would have been attached to the ‘egg tree’. There is slight wear from production use, including minor scratching, but it remains in good overall condition.
