Charlie And The Chocolate Factory

Prop $1 Note

Stock #78293

A $1 note from Tim Burton’s 2005 movie Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, based on Roald Dahl’s book of the same name.

Living in poverty with his large extended family, Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore) is a fond lover of chocolate. When Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) opens up his chocolate factory to five lucky Golden Ticket winners, Charlie is one of the lucky winners, and enters the secretive factory to discover its many hidden wonders.

Custom-made prop money was used in the scenes where Charlie finds his Golden Ticket in the corner shop and other shoppers try to buy it from him on the spot.

The note is made from paper with realistic detail and colouring. The serial numbers ‘DH 431-670829’ and ‘5461’ are printed on either side. However, no actual currency or country are marked - the note is described as ‘National Currency’ rather than a ‘dollar’, and refers to ‘The National Bank’ and ‘The State’ rather than any specific facility or location. The image of the treasurer is shown on one side, with an image of a building similar to the White House on the reverse.

The note remains in excellent overall condition.
