Captain Corelli's Mandolin

Captain Corelli's (Nicolas Cage) Dog Tag and Crucifix

Stock #59819

A dog tag used in the wartime romantic drama Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. When the Ionian islands are occupied by the Italian army in 1941, Captain Antonio Corelli (Nicolas Cage) and his men find an island population hostile to their presence, in particular the daughter of a local doctor, Pelagia (Penelope Cruz). As the war goes on, Corelli and Pelagia’s love blossoms, only to be threatened by the Italian surrender and brutal occupation by the Germans.

Made of metal on a dark metal chain, the dog tag features Corelli’s name, family, Army serial number and his home city of Verona, all stamped into the main plate. A wooden crucifix with a faux-gold figure of Jesus is attached to the chain. The piece displays some wear from use and time spent in storage, including minor corrosion at the back of the tag. However, in spite of this wear, the dog tag remains in very good condition.
