A Stark Industries ‘screen wiper’ panel from the set of Joe Johnston’s 2011 entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: The First Avenger.
Scrawny Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is rejected for military service as the United States marches to war against the Japanese and Germans. Given entry by Dr Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci), Rogers enlists as part of a ‘super soldier’ experiment, eventually becoming the famous Captain America.
This panel and others like it were made for the film and would have been used on one of the boats that appear in the film. The text on the panel refers to the piece being for a ‘Marine Screen Wiper’ and includes details about the equipment, including model number and amps. The piece also features a dial so that the user can adjust the speed of the wipers. In the bottom right corner it says that the piece was ‘Made in Philadelphia by Stark Industries’.
The piece is made of acrylic with a plastic dial, held in place with a metal screw and a couple of bolts. It shows some minor wear from production use and storage, including some scuffs and scratches. There are a couple of areas where a brown paper has become stuck and embedded in the engraved text, and there is the remnants of sticky tape on the reverse from where the panel had been stuck down during production. Overall the piece remains in an excellent condition.
Materials: Acrylic, Plastic, Ferrous Metals.
