Borrowers, The

'Apaxmai' Twenty Coin

Stock #88026

“We may be small but heaven help anyone who thinks he might squish us.”

An oversized Greek coin from Peter Hewitt’s 1997 comedy adventure film The Borrowers.

A secret family of four-inch people living inside the walls of a house must save their home from an evil real estate developer.

Coins were kept in Pete’s (Bradley Pierce) glass jar where he placed Arrietty (Flora Newbigin). The coin is an oversized wooden disk and covered with fibreglass, carved and painted to resemble a 1971 Greek coin. Much of the effects were created using forced perspective and splicing scenes together to make the Borrower actors look much smaller, oversized items helped create this effect. The coin shows chipping and paint wear from its time spent in storage, it remains in an otherwise good condition.

Materials: Wood, Fibreglass.
