An autographed American sleeve for The Beatles' 1968 album The Beatles, also referred to as the White Album. Released 22 November 1968, the Beatles' ninth studio album was a critical and commercial success. Many critics consider it to be the band's best work, and it is a fan favourite, ranking 10th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time". Copies of the album autographed by Lennon are notably scarce, and only one example autographed by all four members of the band is known to exist.
This American Apple issue is autographed on the right gatefold by John Lennon in red ink and Paul McCartney in black ink. The autographs were given in the USA during the 1970s: Lennon's is dated to 1975, and McCartney's between 1975 and 1976. Seam splits at the top and bottom of the sleeve have been professionally restored. The lot comes with a certificate of authenticity from Beatles autograph specialist Frank Caiazzo , a Tracks Ltd. letter of authenticity and a Roger Epperson Authentication Ltd. certificate of authenticity.
