An SS German officer’s camouflage cap from the production of the historical TV mini-series Band Of Brothers, produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.
Based on the book by Stephen E. Ambrose, the series follows the wartime lives of the 101st Airborne Division’s “Easy” Company, from their training at Camp Currahee through to the end of the war.
SS officers wore a variety of military caps throughout the series, including camouflage caps like this one. A notable scene featuring caps like this was the sequence in the final episode in which the German Field Marshall (Wolf Kahler) gave a rousing speech to his men after they had surrendered to the Americans, who listened in the background.
A rarer item for the production, the peak cap features a green and brown camouflage design with an SS wings patch sewn above a Nazi "Totenkopf" ("dead man's head") skull and crossbones patch. It is unsized and does not feature an adjustment strap.
Well-used on the production, the cap shows patches of worn fabric and intentional distressing to reflect use in the field. It remains in good overall condition and makes a great item for war movie fans and collectors of war- and Nazi-style memorabilia.
Materials: Man-Made Woven Fibres.
