These storyboards and others like them were used by the crew to visualise the film’s many sequences, providing guidance on framing, shot types and camera angles.
This set of three printed storyboards was used to visualise the film’s hoverboard sequence as Marty (Michael J. Fox) is chased by Griff (Thomas F. Wilson) and his gang after saying no to Griff’s question about “tonight’s opportunity”. Spike (Darlene Vogel), Data (Ricky Dean Logan) and Whitey (Jason Scott Lee) appear from Café 80s. Marty races off through an intersection on the hoverboard he’s stolen from the little girl. The gang grab their own hoverboards from the back of their black convertible.
The three storyboard pages are printed in horizontal format with one image per page, printed in black and white on white A4 paper. The text “PAR 3000” is stamped in red on each page along with “SC 26-A”, numbers 4,5 and 6 notes detailing the gang’s point of view and a frame where Marty looks back. The storyboards remain in excellent condition.
