Moussa's (Michael Kenneth Williams) stunt wristblade mounts from Justin Kurzel’s 2016 video game adaptation Assassin’s Creed.
Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) is submitted to an experiment involving the Animus - a machine that has been developed to relive genetic memories - and discovers he is a descendant of the mysterious Assassins. Experiencing the adventures of his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha, he helps the Assassins take on the tyrannical Templars and search for the ‘Apple of Eden’.
Moussa wore his wristblade on his right arm when he and the other Assassins took on the Abstergo facility guards, led by Cal. This stunt model is one of several made for the production and was used for action sequences where live or moving versions were not required.
Made from rubber, the wristblade has been designed in the ‘blade ‘retracted’ position. It is roughly rectangular and features a tapered design with angled contours. The rubber for the weapon portion has been painted to resemble steel-coloured metal – on top of this is an intricately detailed decorative section styled to look like carved ivory yellowed with the passage of time. Further engraved carvings can be seen in the ‘metal’ sections of the weapon, which is completed by two small pommels at the back end.
Distressed for production, the wristblade shows signs of paint wear and small cracks in the rubber. It remains in very good overall condition despite this wear.
