A fight pass and two Ali support badges from the 2001 Michael Mann boxing drama biopic Ali. Charting the career of sports legend Muhammad Ali (Will Smith), the film explores his victories and controversies between 1964 and 1974.
The crowd wore a variety of support badges for each fighter during the movie’s climactic scenes where Ali takes on George Foreman (Charles Shufford). This set of supporter materials and merchandise includes two round plastic badges and a rectangular admission pass.
The green plastic badge features the shape of Africa with a black and white photo of Ali in the centre. The words ‘Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee - “Ali” ‘ are written in red around its edges, with cartoons of a butterfly and bee.
The white plastic badge is slightly larger than the green badge and features a different black and white photo of Ali. The top of the badge is printed with ‘The People’s Champ – “Ali” ’ in black lettering around the circumference.
The admission pass is made from pink card and features the words “Roving Pass” and “Ali versus Foreman” plus the location in Kinshasa, Zaire - plus other event information.
