Abyss, The

Framed Flatbed Submersible Blueprint

Stock #33750

A scale dyeline drawing of the Flatbed submersible from the James Cameron film The Abyss. When a nuclear submarine sinks after an encounter with an unidentified object, deep sea driller Bud Brigman (Ed Harris) and his team are brought in to allow a SEAL team to get to the sub. However, what they find on the sea bed is something out of this world, and the SEALs, led by the maniacal Lieutenant Coffey (Michael Biehn), threaten to destroy it.

This production-used dyeline drawing is of the Flatbed submersible, one of the many vehicles forming the compliment of the Deep Core platform seen in the film. The drawings, a production copy printed in blue on thin tracing paper, show a front, side and top view of the underwater vehicle, with the array of pipes, fans and engines laid out in intricate detail. The name “ABYSS” is on the bottom left corner, while the bottom right features an illustrative scale, showing the real size of the enormous submersible.

The blueprint is presented in a frame with an acrylic pane to ensure the piece remains protected, and in spite of some minor creases and some damage to the edge of the frame, the piece remains in a very good production-used condition.
