A costume worn in the 2006 graphic novel movie adaptation 300. Based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller, 300 is a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae, in which 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Facing insurmountable odds, their valour and sacrifice inspire all of Greece to unite against the Persian enemy.
This costume is a composite featuring items worn by multiple performers, with the cape named to the warrior poet Dilios (David Wenham), who fights alongside his king, Leonidas (Gerard Butler) in the pass at Thermopylae until a wound to the eye forces him to retire from the battle. The costume is composed of a rubber helmet (marked “Doug Chapman” and “Leonidas”), the red Spartan cape (marked “Dilios – Stage 2”), a pair of greaves (marked “Rich Cetrone” and “Leonidas”), a leather codpiece (unmarked) and a pair of bracers (marked “Alex Cadievy #4, Captain”). A pair of sandals, used by the Myrmidons in the film Troy, have been included to complete the ensemble.

Supplied with an original wardrobe label and well used on the production, the costume is in a distressed state but remains in an overall very good production-used condition. No sizes marked.
