A replica Tripod model from the classic BBC sci-fi drama based on John Christopher’s book series, The Tripods (1984 – 1985).

The Earth has been conquered by an alien race known as the Masters, who patrol the land in giant Tripods. When humans reach the age of 16 they are ‘capped’, placing their minds under the control of the aliens. A group of young friends avoid being capped themselves, and go in search of a group of ‘free men’.

This replica was made by a senior BBC modelmaker using pieces formed from the original moulds used on the show. Not all of the pieces for the model could be made from the original moulds so they are crafted as close as could be. It is made largely of resin with metal feet and has been hand painted to weather beaten. The long green 'eye' is made of resin. The legs have some manoeuvrability and can pivot slightly in their sockets.

There is some wear from storage, as well as glue residue around the ball sockets in the leg. Overall it remains in an excellent condition.
