Ar Mo's (Jade Go) Vintage Blue Silk Skirt
Stock # 24786
Ar Mo's (Jade Go) skirt from the 1987 Jeremy Thomas Oscar-winning drama The Last Emperor. Young Pu Yi's (Richard Vuu) wet nurse can be seen wearing this beautiful skirt as the Imperial Guards storm his home to take him away to the Forbidden City, where he is destined to rule as the Emperor of China. The navy blue pleated skirt was created during the Qing Dynasty, making it at least 100 years old and in incredible condition for its age.
It features colourful embroidered flowers and leaves running down each pleat, finished with richly embroidered panels of flowers and butterflies which are so incredibly detailed and brightly coloured. There is a production-added cream cotton waistband with hook and snap closures and the seam is beginning to come loose, but otherwise the vintage garment remains in excellent condition with some small signs of wear around the seams.
This comes from the private collection of renowned producer Jeremy Thomas (who single handedly raised the $25million budget for the movie) and was archived after filming completed until only recently, when the Prop Store was proud to assist in sorting and cataloguing the incredible inventory under the guidance and in collaboration with Oscar-winning Costume Designer, Jim Acheson.
This item comes with a Prop Store Certificate of Authenticity.
