A puppet head from Michael Apted's wartime thriller Enigma. Struggling from a nervous breakdown and a failed romance, cryptanalyst Tom Jericho (Dougray Scott) finds his former lover has gone missing. Trying to hunt her down with the help of Bletchley Park typist Hester Wallace (Kate Winslet). Dragged into a whirlwind of state secrets and spy games, they soon find a traitor in their midst. Can they reveal the secret before it's too late?
This miniature head was intended for use for the sequence in which the traitorous Jozef 'Puck' Pukowski's (Nikolaj Coster Waldau) boat and a German U-boat are sunk by bombers from the Royal Air Force, however the piece was ultimately never seen on screen, with this head belonging to the U-boat's executive officer. The piece is made of resin and features a clean-shaven face with the dark blue peaked cap of a Kriegsmarine watch officer. It displays some marks from its time spent in storage, however it remains in overall good condition.
