An SFX Dinoshark Head from the 2010 SyFy channel original film, Dinoshark. In the film, an ancient species of shark begins feeding on human flesh in the waters off of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
This head was made as a practical application for shots that required more realistic detail. The head is made primarily out of foam latex, but features hardened ridges on the back made of rubber. The skin of the creature is painted varying shades of matte grey, and throughout the head of the beast are numerous cuts and scars detailed into the skin giving the creature a battle tested appearance. The teeth of the monster are made of rubber and are colored in stained yellow, while the rest of the mouth is completed with foam latex. The inside of the monster has been hollowed out, and has also been fitted with steel bars rigged to the jaws. The steel rigs are operated by hand, allowing the jaws to open and close.
